Halsey, born Ashley Nicolette Frangipane in New Jersey in 1994, is one of the most distinctive and restlessly inventive artists in contemporary pop. She first came to widespread attention with her debut album BADLANDS in 2015 — a dystopian concept record that reached number two on the Billboard chart and introduced her electrifying, shapeshifting approach to alternative pop.
