KAYTRANADA (real name Louis Kevin Celestin) is a Haitian-born, Montreal-based producer, DJ and multi-Grammy-winning artist whose forward-thinking approach to electronic music has made him one of the most influential figures of his generation. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and raised in Montreal after his family relocated when he was a child, he began experimenting with production and DJing in his early teens, teaching himself how to craft beats on his home computer. Deeply inspired by hip-hop producers like J Dilla and Madlib, as well as the rich traditions of house, funk and R&B, he developed a sound that fused swinging rhythms, warm low-end and soulful samples into something distinctly his own.
He first gained widespread attention in the early 2010s through a series of breakout remixes that circulated heavily online, reworking tracks by artists like Janet Jackson, Missy Elliott and TLC into woozy, dancefloor-ready cuts. These early releases, combined with a steady run of EPs and singles, quickly built him a cult following among DJs, tastemakers and music fans around the world. His reputation as a boundary-pushing producer culminated in the release of his critically acclaimed debut album 99.9% in 2016. In 2019, he followed up with his sophomore album BUBBA, a lush, groove-driven project that further refined his sound and affirmed his status as a master of rhythm and texture. Featuring guests like Kali Uchis, Pharrell Williams, GoldLink, SiR, Estelle and Masego, BUBBA balanced club-ready tracks with introspective, late-night moods, all threaded together by his signature swing, intricate drum programming and deep basslines. The album topped electronic charts and earned widespread critical acclaim, ultimately winning the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album, while the single “10%” featuring Kali Uchis took home the Grammy for Best Dance Recording. These accolades cemented his position not just as an underground favourite but as one of the most compelling and respected producers working in popular music.
On stage, KAYTRANADA has built a reputation as a magnetic live performer and DJ, capable of turning intimate club spaces and massive arenas alike into communal dance experiences. He has toured the world both as a headliner and as a supporting act, playing major festivals, clubs and concert halls across North America, Europe, South America, Asia and Australia. His live sets often reimagine his recordings with new arrangements, edits and transitions, blurring the lines between DJ set and live show. Notably, he embarked on a well-received co-headline run with French electronic duo Justice in 2025, pairing his warm, groove-heavy sound with their visceral, rock-infused electronics to create a high-energy, genre-spanning live experience. He has also performed alongside major artists such as The Weeknd, further expanding his reach to global pop and R&B audiences.
