About Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol have long held a distinctive place in alternative rock, known for pairing emotional honesty with expansive, melodic songwriting. Formed in Dundee in the mid-1990s, the band gradually built momentum before emerging as one of the most successful British and Irish rock acts of the 2000s, with Gary Lightbody at the forefront.

That rise began in earnest with Final Straw, the album that introduced many listeners to Snow Patrol’s anthemic sound and introspective lyrical style. Their success reached another level with 2006’s Eyes Open, a landmark release that featured Chasing Cars, one of the most recognisable songs of its era. The album became one of the UK’s best-selling records of the 21st century and helped establish the band as arena-filling favourites, admired for their soaring choruses, emotional depth, and powerful live shows.

In the years that followed, Snow Patrol continued to expand their sound across albums such as A Hundred Million Suns, Fallen Empires, and Wildness. While each record explored new textures and ideas, the band retained the atmospheric, melodic quality that has remained central to their appeal.

More recently, they returned with The Forest Is The Path, their first studio album in six years. Reflective and assured, the record marked a new chapter for the group and was supported by an extensive run of live dates throughout 2025 and 2026, underlining their lasting appeal as one of the UK’s most reliable and enduring live acts.

Following a series of major outdoor headline shows and festival appearances in summer 2026, including dates at Crystal Palace Park and Edinburgh Castle, Snow Patrol are now set to take their catalogue back to arena stages later in the year.
