Wonderful
Excellent, fast, friendly service. Sent me a personal message with a photo before pick-up to let me know where their booth was located. Their service was so good, i’d go to an event just to pick up tickets from them. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

The Waterboys are a British-Irish folk-rock collective formed in London in 1983 by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mike Scott. From the start, their sound blended rock energy with literary lyricism and Celtic folk influences, carving out a distinctive place in the 1980s music landscape. Scott’s vision for the band was fluid and expansive, often described as a “big music” approach that favoured sweeping arrangements, emotional intensity and poetic storytelling.
Their early work culminated in This Is the Sea (1985), the record that is often viewed as the first major peak of their career. The album features the fan-favourite anthem The Whole of the Moon, a song that combines vivid, imaginative lyrics with a soaring, anthemic melody. Over time it has become one of their most enduring tracks and a staple of alternative rock playlists worldwide, frequently introduced to new generations through film, television and radio. This Is the Sea also showcased Scott’s growing ambition as a songwriter, with songs that touched on spirituality, longing, transformation and the search for meaning.
Following the heightened, widescreen sound of their early albums, The Waterboys’ artistic evolution took a major turn with Fisherman’s Blues (1988). Recorded largely in Dublin and Spiddal in the west of Ireland, the album reflected Scott’s deepening interest in traditional music and the vibrant Irish musical community around him. On Fisherman’s Blues, the band fused Irish folk, Americana, country and rock into a richly textured and often improvisational sound. Fiddles, accordions and acoustic instruments sat alongside electric guitars and drums, giving the record a warm, organic feel very different from their earlier, more polished studio work.
The songs on Fisherman’s Blues ranged from rousing, communal sing-alongs to contemplative ballads and reworked traditional tunes. Its earthy, expansive spirit and emotional depth helped broaden the band’s audience and cemented its status as a touchstone of roots-oriented rock. The sessions for the album were famously prolific, yielding far more material than could fit on a single release and later inspiring expanded editions that revealed just how fertile this period was for the band.
In the years that followed, The Waterboys continued to evolve rather than settle into a single style. Albums such as Room to Roam further explored folk traditions, while later records saw the band return at times to a more electric rock sound, incorporating elements of blues, soul and even spoken-word influences.
The band’s influence is evident in many contemporary folk-rock acts and in the resurgence of roots-inspired music. Artists who mix traditional instruments with modern arrangements often cite The Waterboys as proof that you can honour musical heritage while still sounding fresh and forward-looking. Fisherman’s Blues, in particular, is widely praised for expanding folk-rock’s possibilities, showing that traditional melodies and stories can sit comfortably alongside rock rhythms and contemporary songwriting.
Expect rich, wide-ranging sets that pay tribute to the band’s folk-rock and Americana roots, with heartfelt renditions of classics alongside rare or newly rediscovered material from the Fisherman’s Blues sessions. With the release of the Atlantic Rain triple album of unreleased Fisherman’s Blues material just weeks before the tour, fans will enjoy a deep dive into the textures and stories that have defined The Waterboys’ enduring appeal.
