2027 British Grand Prix Dates & Schedule

The Silverstone F1 2027 dates are confirmed as July 2–4 and the race start time is 15:00 BST. This is a Sprint format weekend so there are competitive sessions across all three days. Times provided are local:

  • Friday 2nd 12:30–13:30: Practice 1
  • Friday 2nd 16:30–17:14: Sprint Qualifying
  • Saturday 3rd 12:00–13:00: Sprint Race
  • Saturday 3rd16:00–17:00: Qualifying
  • Sunday 4th 15:00: Race

Note: The Sprint format means high-stakes competitive sessions every day: Sprint Qualifying on Friday, the Sprint Race and Grand Prix Qualifying on Saturday, and the main race on Sunday. More track action than a standard race weekend.

Which Silverstone F1 Ticket Is Right for You?

Silverstone Circuit offers reserved grandstand seats across the circuit plus General Admission areas. Many 3-day grandstand tickets include a “Roving” policy on Friday and Saturday meaning you have a reserved seat for Sunday’s race but can sit in any available seat in a selection of other grandstands during practice and qualifying sessions. This is a great way to experience Copse, Maggots, Becketts, and other iconic corners before the main event. Parking is available but must be pre-booked — a 3-day pass costs up to £70 and sells out. Park and Ride services from the M1 and M40 are a popular alternative. Many 3-day tickets also include complimentary or discounted entry to the Silverstone Museum at the circuit entrance.

Best Grandstands at the British Grand Prix

Every grandstand at Silverstone offers weather cover — essential at a circuit with one of the most famously unpredictable climates on the calendar. Here’s what to expect at each key section.

Club Corner

  • View of the final turns of the circuit and the podium celebrations
  • Reserved seating, TV access and coverage from weather
  • Expensive. A Sunday ticket will cost you over £500

Best for: Fans who want to see the podium ceremony up close and watch the final decisive moments of every lap from a covered seat.

Becketts

  • One of the best sections of the track to watch Formula One racing
  • Reserved seating, TV access and coverage from weather
  • Pricing is lower than Club Corner, so recommended due to the more intense racing action you’ll see here

Best for: Fans who want to watch drivers push the absolute limits of the car through the most technically demanding and visually spectacular section of Silverstone.

Stowe

  • View the end of the Hangar Straight and high-speed braking and overtaking
  • Reserved seating, TV access and coverage from weather
  • Pricing is in the mid-high range but can get expensive for a full weekend pass

Best for: Fans who want to experience the sheer speed of Formula One at full throttle — cars arriving at over 180 mph into one of Silverstone’s key overtaking opportunities.

Home Drivers to Watch

The United Kingdom has always been a country with a lot of Formula 1 drivers, and they own the record with most produced F1 drivers in history with 164 drivers (Arvid Lindblad from Racing Bulls is the newest one). This season five of the twenty drivers represent the United Kingdom.

Lando Norris arrives at his home race as the defending winner at Silverstone, having taken an emotional victory in the rain in 2025. The McLaren driver and 2025 championship leader has 11 wins and 44 podiums to his name and will be the loudest cheer of the weekend. Team: McLaren Formula One Team · Car number: 4 · 2025 Championship position: 1st (423 points)

Lewis Hamilton has won the British Grand Prix nine times — more than any other driver at any single venue in Formula One history. Now racing for Ferrari, he’ll be looking to add to that record on his old home turf. Team: Scuderia Ferrari · Car number: 44 · World Championships: 7 · Wins: 105 · 2025 British GP result: P4

George Russell is a consistent frontrunner and race winner who has yet to add a home victory to his record. Team: Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team · Car number: 63 · Wins: 5 · 2025 British GP result: P10 · 2025 Championship position: 4th (319 points)

Oliver Bearman is in only his second full season of Formula One, having already announced himself with a series of impressive results for Haas. Team: Haas F1 Team · Car number: 87 · 2025 Championship position: 13th (41 points)

Arvid Lindblad is a British rookie making his way onto the grid with Racing Bulls, definitely one to watch for the home crowd. Car number: 41.

2025 British Grand Prix Summary

Lando Norris achieved a lifelong dream by winning his first home Grand Prix at Silverstone in a dramatic, rain-hit encounter. The race was defined by multiple safety cars and a controversial 10-second penalty for Oscar Piastri, who led early but was penalised for an erratic restart that caused Max Verstappen to spin. Piastri served the penalty during his final pit stop, allowing Norris to re-take the lead and finish ahead of his teammate for a McLaren one-two. The story of the day was Nico Hülkenberg, who rose from 19th on the grid to finish third, securing his first career podium in his 239th start. Norris’s victory brought him within eight points of Piastri in a championship battle that left Verstappen a distant third.

History of the British Grand Prix

The British Grand Prix has been part of the Formula One World Championship calendar since 1950. It’s held at the Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire. The British Grand Prix is the oldest race on the F1 calendar, and in 2019 held its 70th anniversary in the sport.

After the Second World War, British circuits were being built on disused airfields – Silverstone is one of those. Designed to be equidistant between Birmingham, the UK’s largest city, and London, the UK’s capital city, it was first raced by Formula 1 in 1950 and was in attendance by King George VI. Formula One would alternate between Silverstone and Aintree, the famous horse racing circuit in Liverpool until 1962. From 1963 until 1986, Silverstone would share the British Grand Prix honours with Brands Hatch. A ruling from the international motorsports governing body implemented long-term contracts for just one circuit per Grand Prix, meaning either Brands Hatch or Silverstone would be the permanent host. Silverstone was deemed as the superior venue and became the home of Formula One in Britain.

Donington Park was announced to be the venue for the British Grand Prix from 2010 onwards, but funding fell through and Silverstone re-signed as the exclusive circuit. Formula One racing will be taking place at Silverstone until 2034 at the earliest.

FAQs about Silverstone F1 Tickets

How do I get to the Silverstone circuit?

Silverstone is located in the Northamptonshire countryside. The most popular way to arrive is via the “Park & Ride” service from nearby hubs like Milton Keynes, Northampton, or Towcester. If taking the train, head to Milton Keynes Central or Northampton station and catch the dedicated Stagecoach shuttle bus to the track. If you are driving, you must book your parking pass in advance, as no parking is available for purchase at the gate on race weekend.

Is the British Grand Prix a Sprint weekend?

Yes, Silverstone is often selected as a Sprint weekend. This means your ticket includes competitive sessions every single day: Sprint Qualifying on Friday, the F1 Sprint Race and Grand Prix Qualifying on Saturday, and the main Grand Prix on Sunday. This format ensures high-stakes racing action throughout the entire weekend.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

Yes, fans are welcome to bring their own food and non-alcoholic drinks. However, glass bottles and outside alcohol are strictly prohibited at the entry gates. Many fans also bring lightweight collapsible chairs if they have General Admission tickets, though these are not permitted in the grandstands. There are numerous “Food Villages” around the track offering everything from classic British pies to international street food.

What is “Roving” grandstand access?

For many 3-day grandstand tickets, Silverstone operates a “Roving” policy on Friday and Saturday. This means that while you have a reserved seat for Sunday’s race, you can sit in any available seat in a selection of other grandstands during the practice and qualifying sessions on the first two days. This is a fantastic way to experience different views of iconic corners like Copse, Maggotts, and Becketts before the main event.

Are the grandstands at Silverstone covered?

Silverstone features a mix of covered and uncovered seating. Premium stands like Hamilton Straight A, Abbey, and Luffield are fully covered, providing protection from the sun or the frequent British rain. Most other grandstands and all General Admission areas are open to the elements. Given the unpredictable weather, we strongly suggest bringing a high-quality waterproof poncho and comfortable, sturdy walking shoes.

Can I visit the Silverstone Museum?

Yes! Many 3-day F1 tickets include complimentary or discounted entry to the Silverstone Museum, located right at the track entrance. It features interactive exhibits and a collection of historic F1 cars. It is an excellent place to visit during gaps in the track schedule or if you need to escape a rain shower.

Is there a track invasion after the race?

Yes, Silverstone holds one of the most famous track invasions in the world. Once the race has concluded and the track is cleared by officials, fans are permitted onto the circuit at specific points. This allows you to walk to the podium at the Hamilton Straight to see the trophy presentation and experience the track surface up close.

What is the “Landostand” or other fan-specific areas?

Silverstone often features dedicated fan zones, such as the Landostand (specifically for Lando Norris fans) or the “Beats” entertainment zones. These areas offer a concentrated atmosphere with exclusive merchandise, themed food, and often host driver appearances or live DJ sets in the evenings after the racing has finished.
