Wonderful

Excellent, fast, friendly service. Sent me a personal message with a photo before pick-up to let me know where their booth was located. Their service was so good, i’d go to an event just to pick up tickets from them. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

About The Wailers

The Wailers’ journey is closely linked to Bob Marley, but the band itself played a crucial role in shaping modern reggae. Their rise to fame was gradual, marked by several key moments. They first gained popularity in Jamaica with ska and rocksteady hits, but their international breakthrough began in the early 1970s after signing with Island Records and releasing two major albums in 1973: ‘Catch a Fire’ and ‘Burnin’. These albums were produced in a way similar to rock music, bringing their thoughtful lyrics and infectious rhythms to a worldwide audience and establishing them as reggae pioneers.

The original lineup of The Wailers featured Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer. Since their formation in 1963, they have formed a creative powerhouse, collaborating on many songs during the ska and rocksteady phases. Their work with producer Lee “Scratch” Perry in the late 1960s was significant in developing the roots reggae sound that became their hallmark. After ‘Burnin”, both Tosh and Wailer left to follow solo careers, leaving Marley to lead a new band that included bassist Aston “Family Man” Barrett and drummer Carlton Barrett, along with the I-Threes on backing vocals. This era marked the peak of their commercial success, with Marley becoming the face of reggae worldwide.

The Wailers have a rich collection of timeless songs. Their early hits like “Simmer Down” and a revamped version of “One Love” gained them significant recognition in Jamaica. The albums ‘Catch a Fire’ and ‘Burnin” introduced classics such as “I Shot the Sheriff,” “Concrete Jungle,” and “Get Up, Stand Up.” After Tosh and Wailer left, Bob Marley and the Wailers continued to produce hits, notably with the 1976 album Rastaman Vibration featuring “War,” and the 1977 album Exodus, which featured chart-toppers like “Jamming” and “Three Little Birds.” The compilation album Legend has become a beloved collection of their greatest hits.

The Wailers boast an impressive touring history that helped popularise reggae globally. Their early tours in the UK and North America during the 1970s, including the Catch a Fire and Burnin’ Tours, introduced reggae to new audiences. After Tosh and Wailer’s departure, Marley’s live performances gained legendary status. The Natty Dread Tour in 1975 led to a memorable concert at the Lyceum in London, later released as the popular album Live!, featuring the iconic “No Woman, No Cry.” Subsequent tours like the Exodus and Survival Tours took them to stadiums and arenas around the world, establishing Marley as a musical superstar. Following Marley’s passing in 1981, The Wailers, led by Aston Barrett, have continued to tour, celebrating their music and legacy for fans globally.
