Gunners look like beating their rivals to wide man’s signature this summer.
Arsenal have emerged as the new favourites to sign in-demand FC Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu, according to reports in Spanish sports daily Mundo Deportivo.
The highly rated Spain Under-21 international is currently the subject of huge interest from a whole host of big-name Premier League clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Chelsea all believed to be keen on bringing the youngster to the Premier League when the summer transfer window reopens on July 1.
However, it had been thought that it would be Anfield where the 19-year-old ends up at in the close season after the Merseyside giants recently signed Deulofeu’s former striking partner at Barcelona ‘B’ last season, Luis Alberto Romero.
That, though, does not know appear to be the case, with the north London club have reportedly overtaken the rest of their Premier League rivals in the race to land the player who has made just six appearances for the Liga champions in all competitions in the previous two campaigns, including only two in the league.
