NHL tickets 2026

Fanatix.com is your destination for the best NHL tickets. The NHL, celebrated for its breathtaking speed, physical intensity, and storied rivalries, is the pinnacle of professional ice hockey. The National Hockey League was organized on November 26, 1917, in Montréal , and has grown from a handful of Canadian clubs into a 32-team league spanning the length and breadth of North America, producing some of the most iconic athletes and unforgettable moments in all of sport.

Book your NHL tickets

By booking your NHL tickets through our booking system, you will step inside the electric atmosphere that only a live NHL game can deliver. NHL tickets are available for every matchup across the regular season, the playoffs, and the Stanley Cup Finals — from the first puck drop of October to the winner-takes-all moments that define legacies. The league is renowned for its passionate fan bases, end-to-end pace, and the kind of overtime drama that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the final whistle. When you secure your NHL tickets, you become part of the greatest ice hockey competition on the planet.

NHL history

The NHL was founded in 1917 following the suspension of operations by the National Hockey Association of Canada, with the Montréal Canadiens, Montreal Wanderers, Ottawa Senators and Quebec Bulldogs attending the founding meeting. From those origins, the league grew through the legendary Original Six era — when the NHL was comprised of six teams: the Boston Bruins, Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montréal Canadiens, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs — through a series of expansions that brought the game to new markets across the United States and beyond. From the dynasty years of the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers of the 1980s, through the Gretzky era that transformed hockey into a continental phenomenon, to the modern age of global superstars, the NHL has continually reinvented itself while remaining the undisputed home of the world’s best ice hockey.

2025-2026 NHL season

The Florida Panthers are the reigning NHL champions, having won the most recent Stanley Cup in 2025. The Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4–2 in the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals , claiming back-to-back titles after also defeating the Oilers the previous year. With the 2025-26 regular season now reaching its conclusion and the playoff race heating up across both conferences, the battle to be the team that dethrones Florida is well and truly underway.

NHL records

The NHL has always been a stage where individual and team greatness gets measured in numbers. The Montreal Canadiens lead all franchises with 24 Stanley Cup titles , a record built on decades of dominance that includes five consecutive championships from 1956 to 1960. On the individual side, Wayne Gretzky remains the greatest scorer in NHL history by an enormous margin, holding records for career goals, assists, and points that may never be approached. Here’s a look at the franchises with the most Stanley Cup championships:

Rank Franchise Stanley Cup titles
1 Montreal Canadiens 24
2 Toronto Maple Leafs 13
3 Detroit Red Wings 11
4 Boston Bruins 6
4 Chicago Blackhawks 6
6 Edmonton Oilers 5
6 Pittsburgh Penguins 5
8 New York Islanders 4
8 New York Rangers 4

Iconic NHL moments

The NHL has produced some of the most replayed and debated moments in sport. Here are a few that have shaped the identity of the league:

1970 – Bobby Orr flies through the air

On May 10, 1970, Bobby Orr scored the Stanley Cup-clinching goal in overtime of Game 4 against the St. Louis Blues, with an assist from teammate Derek Sanderson, just 40 seconds into extra time. The subsequent image of Orr flying through the air, his arms stretched out in victory — having been tripped by Blues defenseman Noel Picard immediately after scoring — is considered the most famous and recognised hockey image of all time. It remains the defining snapshot of the sport’s history.

1980 – The Miracle on Ice

At the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, the United States men’s ice hockey team — a group of college-age amateurs — defeated the heavily favoured Soviet Union, who had won four consecutive Olympic gold medals, in one of the greatest upsets in sporting history. In 1999, Sports Illustrated named the Miracle on Ice the top sports moment of the 20th century. Though an Olympic rather than NHL event, the game transformed hockey’s standing in the United States and sent a generation of players into the professional ranks.

1994 – The Rangers end 54 years of hurt

One of the NHL’s most famous futility streaks came to an end in 1994 as the New York Rangers won the Stanley Cup for the first time since 1940. Captain Mark Messier had guaranteed victory in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals and then backed it up with a hat-trick, before the Rangers went on to defeat the Vancouver Canucks in a classic seven-game Final. For a city and a fan base that had waited more than half a century, it was an unforgettable release.

2025 – Florida Panthers make it back-to-back

The Florida Panthers captured back-to-back Stanley Cup titles in 2025, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 4–2 in the Finals to cement their status as one of the dominant franchises of the modern NHL era. After coming agonisingly close to the title in 2023 before falling to the Vegas Golden Knights, the Panthers’ consecutive championships represented one of the most remarkable turnarounds and sustained runs of excellence in recent league history.

These moments are just a glimpse of what the NHL has to offer. By booking your NHL tickets here, you have the chance to be part of history. Watch your team live, feel the roar of the arena, and cheer them on from the opening face-off to the final buzzer. You can book tickets directly on your favourite team’s page.
