West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino will cost Tottenham in excess of £15m. The England Under 21 international has been in red hot form so far this season, and Spurs will have to pay a premium price to lure him away from the Hawthorns.

Reports in the Daily Express quote Albion manager Alan Irvine, who expressed his belief that in the current market, his star striker is worth more.
While you might consider that to be a ridiculous suggestion, when you consider the ten players below, who would cost a ridiculous £230m, you will realise he has a point:

Joined the Blues from Blackburn Rovers in 1999, but managed just one Premier League goal before departing for Celtic the following year.
9) Ashley Young (Aston Villa to Manchester United, £17m)
Enjoyed a decent first year at Old Trafford, but his career has never recovered from a penalty miss at Euro 2012. He has played 40 Premier League games and scored just twice since then.
8) Steward Downing (Aston Villa to Liverpool, £20m)
After a successful period with Villa, Downing made the big money move to Liverpool in 2011. He enjoyed some decent moments, including a man of the match performance in the Reds’ League Cup win, but it never truly clicked.
7) Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City to Chelsea, £21m)
One of Chelsea’s big money signings in the middle of the last decade, he made 124 appearances and scored ten goals in all competitions before returning to Manchester City.
6) Joleon Lescott (Everton to Manchester City, £22m)
Made 160 appearances and score nine goals during his time with City, whom he departed on a free transfer this summer. He only once made more than 30 appearances in a Premier League season, and was a bit-part player in the final year of his contract.
5) Darren Bent (Sunderland to Aston Villa, £24m)
Bought off the back of the most successful period of his career, with Sunderland, and began well at Villa before being frozen out by manager Paul Lambert. He spent the majority of last season on loan at Fulham.
4) Adam Lallana (Southampton to Liverpool, £25m)
The Reds paid out a huge fee for a 26-year-old who had spent the majority of his career playing in England’s lower divisions. He has shown flashes of his ability in the early part of his time with the Reds, but the fee is still an astronomical one.
3) James Milner (Aston Villa to Manchester City, £26m)
Milner’s transfer fee was around the £20m mark, but with Stephen Ireland going in the other direction in part-exchange, the official fee was bumped up to £26m. A more than decent player in a City shirt, but that’s a lot of money for a utility man.
2) Luke Shaw (Southampton to Manchester United, £27m)
United smashed the world record transfer fee for a teenager when they signed Shaw this summer. After a difficult start, which saw him endure fitness issues and an apparent disagreement with his new manager, he is now at least in the team and getting game time.
1) Andy Carroll (Newcastle United to Liverpool, £35m)
Liverpool’s record signing scored just six Premier League goals before being loaned out to West Ham United. He made the switch permanent a year later, and Reds fans must wish this mistake never happened.
