Chelsea look likely to lose the services of three of their players in late developments on deadline day.
Yossi Benayoun is the highest profile of those with talks over a season-long loan move to Arsenal at an advanced stage. The Israeli has become Arsene Wenger’s main focus after the Gunners withdrew their interest in Everton’s Mikel Arteta.
Patrick van Aanholt has joined Wigan Athletic on a temporary basis and the Blues will hope that he follow in the footsteps of Tom Cleverley and returns to Stamford Bridge as a ready made Premier League player.
Gael Kakuta has also been shipped out on loan and is heading to Bolton. Trotters boss Owen Coyle has a decent track record with high profile loanees having helped nurture the talents of both Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere and Chelsea’s own Daniel Sturridge.
