Chelsea are believed to be considering an offer from Malaga for their French striker Nicolas Anelka.
Anelka is contemplating leaving the club immediately rather than next summer, according to the Daily Mirror, after becoming disillusioned with falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
That contradicts Anelka’s previous statements that he would wait out the final year of his contract and decide on his next move from there.
“I still have one more year, and I am pleased with the work I’ve done since I came to Chelsea.
“I’m still here. I want to stay on until the end of my contract in one year and after that we will see what happens.
“I have never said I wanted to leave Chelsea. Even if there’s an offer from someone else, I don’t care because I’m seeing out my contract at the club.”
Perhaps now Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba, Daniel Sturridge and perhaps even Romelu Lukaku are ahead of Anelka in the Chelsea attack, a return to Spain with nouveau riche Malaga could prove appealing.
