The United States international looked far from a world class player when struggling to get into the Aston Villa team in 2011, and failed to win a permanent contract from then manager Alex McLeish.
Since then though, his development has been nothing short of extraordinary.
After leaving Aston Villa, impressive form at his next club Chievo Verona earned him a move to AS Roma, where he has excelled as a tenacious player in the middle of the park.
Bradley covers a huge amount of ground, tackling and harassing the opposition when his team do not have the ball and driving his team forward when they have possession.
With both Manchester United and Arsenal lacking a true enforcer in midfield, Bradley could be an excellent addition to either side.
For AS Roma under Zdenek Zeman, he has been vital. The American is able to fill in any of the three roles in Roma’s midfield – the destroyer, the runner or the creator, though he is most comfortable in either of the first two.
Each of Man Utd and the Gunners could benefit from his running. Bradley would be a worthy successor to Mathieu Flamini at Arsenal, whose tenacity helped free Cesc Fabregas to do damage in attack when both were in north London.
Manchester United have yet to replace Roy Keane, as Sir Alex Ferguson seemingly determined to stockpile forwards whilst ignoring the gaping hole in his midfield.
The Red Devils may lead the Premier League, but look far behind the likes of FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.
