1) Andy Carroll to Liverpool in 2011 for £35m
Probably the most inflated transfer fee in the history of football. After Carroll enjoyed a solid start to his six months in Premier League football (in which he scored 11 league goals) Liverpool bid an absurd £35m for him on the final day of the transfer window, after selling star man Fernando Torres to Chelsea for £50m. (The only reason he hasn’t made this list is because he’s won a Champions League, an FA Cup and a Europa League at Stamford Bridge. Carroll scored the grand total of six league goals in 44 appearances for the Reds, before being loaned and then sold to West Ham.
