- 18 Ashley Young – 5
Relatively uninspiring from the Englishman, who was given another start following a decent performance last time out against Cardiff. Failed to beat his man out the outside regularly though, and looked bereft of ideas.
- 20 Robin van Persie – 7
Scored his second goal in two since his return from injury, and always looked like the player most likely to make things happen. When United still lose with RVP, Rooney and Mata on the field though, there’s serious problems.
- 10 Wayne Rooney – 6
Was eventually dropped into a much deeper midfield role, so Welbeck could play further up the field. Rooney’s best in the final third, and David Moyes shouldn’t abuse his versatility like this.
Subs:
Rafael – 7 – Was United’s best player arguably, consistently providing thrust down the right.
Danny Welbeck – 6 – Coudn’t make an impact on the match in the second half.
Javier Hernandez – n/a – Didn’t have time to do anything.
