The St George Illawarra Dragons have ended the Newcastle Knights’ undefeated run with a 13-0 win.
It was a gusty display from the Dragons and driven by strong defence.
On a windy and wet night in Newcastle, St George Illawarra took an early lead through Eto Nabuli. The big winger crossed on the left wing.
Josh Dugan showed great strength to extend the Dragons’ lead. The fullback was too powerful to stop from short range.
The rain made it difficult for both sides to exert pressure and keep the ball. The Dragons defence managed to keep the Knights at bay.
Akila Uate went close on the right flank but the Dragons did enough to force him into touch.
Benji Marshall added a field goal with 10 minutes left to wrap the game up for the visitors.
It was only the fourth time the Knights had been kept scoreless in their history.
