Liverpool star Daniel Sturridge has been sent for a scan after complaining of feeling discomfort in his foot ahead of his side’s Europa League clash with Bordeaux on Thursday night.
The news was confirmed by James Pearce, the Reds reporter for the Liverpool Echo, on Twitter shortly before kick-off at Anfield. It will undoubtedly come as a huge blow for both the player and Jurgen Klopp.
Sturridge has scored 42 times for Liverpool since moving to Anfield from Manchester City in January 2013, but, as he suffers injury after injury, there are fears that the Reds may not be able to rely on many more goals from the 26-year-old.
Fortunately for Liverpool, they seem to be coping pretty well without Sturridge.
After holding Tottenham Hotspur to a 0-0 draw in Klopp’s first game, the Anfield outfit have hit the net in seven consecutive matches, scoring three and four in away victories over Chelsea and Man City respectively.
