Liverpool fans must tighten up and prepare for the worst whenever the subject of Daniel Sturridge’s fitness is raised.
However, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp spoke about the injury-prone forward at Friday’s press conference. And it was good news delivered by the German!
Klopp confirmed that Sturridge, who scored two goals in Wednesday’s 6-1 thrashing of Southampton in the Capital One Cup, is available for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United.
Sturridge grimaced as he left the pitch after an hour in Liverpool’s midweek win over the Saints, but Klopp told BBC Sport that, as things stand, he is ready for the trip to Tyneside.
Despite playing just five games in all competitions this season, Sturridge has already scored four club goals. That is the same number of goals as Diego Costa, who was represented Chelsea 17 times during the 2015-16 campaign.
