Victory will mean the winner will move closer to featherweight title shot.
There is a reason why Chad Mendes is a red-hot favourite to win his fight against Clay Guida this weekend at UFC, and it has got something to do with his last three wins coming way of knockout.
The 28-year-old has been on a tear after losing his shot at the belt when he fought Jose Aldo at UFC 142, rebounding from his first loss of his career well to be now sitting at 14-1.
It is not just an improved record Mendes has racked up, but with it enough momentum and credibility to be next in line for the title.
Guida will again bring his unrelenting pressure and energy to the Octagon, but he will need to be worried about the striking of Mendes, who will look to counter-punch when ‘The Carpenter’ rushes in for an attack or a takedown attempt.
