8. Yann M’Vila
Spurs were reportedly on the verge on signing France international M’Vila in August, with the 22-year-old even thought to have been shown around the club’s new training facility. M’Vila must wish he had moved to White Hart Lane, because the enforcer has endured a disastrous six months in Ligue 1, losing his place in the Rennes first-team and facing a lengthy international ban after breaking curfew for the France under-21s, having been demoted from the full squad.
Even so, M’Vila was a huge favourite of former France coach Laurent Blanc and, at his best, is an imposing tough-tackler, who has drawn comparisons with Patrick Vieira. But with Sandro performing so well and Scott Parker returning to fitness, there seems little need for the midfielder in North London.
