The France international was a top target for Andre Villas-Boas’ predecessor at White Hart Lane, Harry Redknapp. But since Redknapp’s summer sacking, Spurs have continued to covet the powerful forward, who finished the last two seasons as Marseille’s top scorer but has found himself ousted by new boss Eli Bapp at the Stade Velodrome this term.
Remy scored more headed goals than anyone in Europe last season and can also play on the wing, making him an attractive and versatile option for Villas-Boas. But Newcastle are keener on the 25-year-old’s signature and, with Spurs undecided, the Toon are likely to swoop in early January.
