1. Leighton Baines (Everton)
Alexander Buttner may boast one goal and one assist from just three Premier League starts, but the summer signing from Holland has obviously done little to convince Sir Alex Ferguson to he is a credible long-term replacement for 31-year-old Patrice Evra. Fergie may therefore look to sign a left-back this summer and it’s hard to see beyond Everton maestro Baines, who has enjoyed a stunning season for the Toffees. No player has created more goalscoring opportunities in Europe, let alone the Premier League, than the 28-year-old and, like teammate Fellaini, he would surely be available for right price.
