Real Madrid are keen on Liverpool and England fullback Glen Johnson, reports the Telegraph.
Back in 2009, Real Madrid signed Alvaro Arbeloa for a bargain £3m, and the Spanish giants are looking to similarly capitalise on the Englishman’s difficult contract situation.
The 29-year-old is one of Liverpool’s key players, but has not been offered an extension to his £105k-per-week terms.
“I’ve loved every minute of the five years I’ve been here and I’d love to stay but really the only truth in it is that I’ve not been offered a new contract on any level,” said Johnson.
Liverpool are apparently not willing to offer an ageing player a long term deal, and Carlo Ancelotti has been impressed with the fullback’s continually improving defensive ability, and his constant attacking runs up the right flank.
As a result, Real Madrid could make a £5m offer for his services.
