Liverpool are set to offer their brilliant captain Steven Gerrard a new contract, worth roughly £130,000 per week, reports the Sun.
The 33-year-old has been superb this season, after a couple of relatively quiet campaigns by his standards, and has shone in his new anchoring midfield role.
His form has been a crucial reason for Liverpool’s title challenge, and the Reds will go back to the top of the table with a win against West Ham today.
As a result, manager Brendan Rodgers wants to secure his skipper until 2017 at least, with his current deal expiring in 2015.
He’s already Liverpool’s second highest paid player behind Luis Suarez, and the new deal, worth roughly £13m, would cement this.
