GWS ruckman Jonathan Giles has reportedly nominated Essendon as his preferred destination over the Adelaide Crows.
AFL.com.au report Giles decided on Tuesday morning that his future lied at the Bombers.
Essendon now have until 2pm on Thursday to broker a deal with the Giants.
Having missed out on Giles, it is believed the Crows will turn its attention to Hawthorn ruckman Luke Lowden to provide support to no.1 ruck Sam Jacobs.
Giles looms as a potential replacement for Paddy Ryder, who is pushing for a trade to Port Adelaide from Essendon.
The 26-year-old finished fifth in the Giants’ best and fairest count in 2014 and has played 51 games for the club.
Prior to joining the expansion club, Giles spent four years at Port Adelaide without featuring in a senior game.
