Defender Sam Frost has been traded from Greater Western Sydney to Melbourne in exchange pick no.23 in the upcoming AFL draft, with the Giants sending selections 40 and 53 back to the Demons.
The deal was only finalised with ten minutes remaining in the AFL trade period, with Melbourne opting to trade for the 21-year-old rather than select him in the pre-season draft.
Frost played 16 games for the Giants in 2014 and is seen as a replacement for James Frawley, who joined reigning premiers Hawthorn.
The 194cm player joins Heritier Lumumba (Collingwood) and Jeff Garlett (Carlton) as new arrival at the Demons.
Melbourne now hold picks 2, 3, 40, 53, 83 and 97, with pick 42 already committed to father-son selection Billy Stretch.
