The Suns return home on Sunday to play their first game at Metricon Stadium in a month, knowing a win over the Bulldogs will vault them into the top four.
They are on a four-game winning streak after successive victories at Etihad Stadium over North Melbourne and St Kilda, and possess one of the most in-form midfields in the competition.
Aside from the imperious Gary Ablett, the likes of Jaeger O’Meara, David Swallow and Dion Prestia have been in white-hot form and supplying plenty of ball to an ever-improving forward line.
The contest in the middle of the ground should be enthralling, with the Bulldogs – fresh from a bye – loaded in that area as well with Ryan Griffen, Matthew Boyd, Tom Liberatore and Adam Cooney.
But if the Suns play anywhere near their best, they should be far too slick for their competitive opponents.
3. The Suns are the top team in the AFL this season for contested possessions, averaging 153.9 a game. The Western Bulldogs are 16th, averaging 134.4.
4. The Suns are the third best team for inside 50s, averaging 54.9 a game, while the Bulldogs are 15th, averaging 45.9.
5. The Bulldogs are seventh this season for uncontested possessions, averaging 222.7 a game, while the Suns are 18th, averaging 204.1.
6. Jaeger O’Meara has shot up the Official AFL Player Ratings, from No.296 at the start of the season to No.125 – and at 20 years of age already is the No.5 player at the Suns.
