2) Trying to field players too soon after injury…
Can we categorically say that Arsenal’s huge injury list is the manager’s fault?
Of course not, but the number of Gunners stars who pick up repeated injuries is worrying. Theo Walcott missed the early part of the season, was rushed back – and is now a long-term absentee. The exact same can be said for Jack Wilshere, while Aaron Ramsey started the season well, but hasn’t played since Christmas – with his return date painstakingly being put back later and later.
And then, because the squad is not strong enough in certain positions (due to Wenger’s frustrating approach to the transfer market) the squad players who have to step in are not of an elite level.
Hence the continual, below par results.
Granted, a fully sit Arsenal starting XI looks like it would be a match for anyone. But when he hasn’t been able to deploy it once all season, what’s the point?
