Hawthorn have added talented young GWS midfielder Jono O’Rourke to its list just days after landing James Frawley as an unrestriced free agent.
The Hawks traded picks 19 and 40 for O’Rourke and pick 43 from the Giants.
O’Rourke was taken at pick no.2 in the 2012 national draft, however injury and lack of opportunities saw him play just nine senior games in two years at the expansion club.
Giants list manager Stephen Silvagni said it was the best possible deal the club could have received for the 20-year-old.
“We think this is a best possible deal under the circumstances which gives us a first round selection at next month’s draft that we could also trade,” Silvagni said.
O’Rourke’s best performance at senior level came in round 20 against North Melbourne, when he picked up a career-high 21 disposals.
