Carlton has continued its busy off-season by announcing the signing of discarded Sydney Swans youngster Matthew Dick.
The 20-year-old did not make a senior appearance for the Swans, but was solid in the NEAFL playing mostly across half-back.
Originally from Victoria, Dick was a third round pick in the 2012 national draft after playing 14 games for the Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup.
Carlton football operations manager Andrew McKay said Dick would be a valuable addition at Princes Park.
“It’s great to get a versatile young player like Matthew through the door, particularly coming from a strong club such as Sydney,” McKay said.
“He’s a powerful right footer with plenty of leg speed who makes good use of the football.
“Matthew only turned 20 on Monday, so his addition fits with our overall strategy to lower the age profile of our team.”
