The Gold Coast Suns have sacked foundation coach Guy McKenna after leading the club for its first four years of existence.
Suns chairman John Witheriff reportedly told McKenna in Tuesday the club would not honour the final year of his contract.
Following a comprehensive review of the club’s football department, the Suns board decided McKenna was not the right man to lead the playing group into the future.
The Suns are yet to officially announce the decision, but will hold a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
News Corp is reporting that stand-in Essendon coach Mark Thompson is favourite to take the reigns of the expansion club.
