Ashes Cricket: Aussies set 231 to win the 4th test at the MCG…
Australia bowled out England for 179 on Day 3, giving them a difficult, but achievable 231 target with two days remaining.
In the morning session, England managed to secure the last Australian wicket when Jimmy Anderson got Brad Haddin out caught behind, meaning the tourists had a 51 run lead before they started their second innings.
Following decent innings from Alistair Cook and Kevin Pietersen, England set the Aussies 231 to win, but it could have been so much higher had the top order not collapsed before tea. England lost four wickets four 20 runs, and only Bairstow and Stokes gave Pietersen any help as the Mitchell Johnson and Nathan Lyon wrapped up the tail. In fact, Bell, Bresnan, Broad and Panesar all were out for ducks.
In reply, Australia racked up a quick 30-0, meaning they need 201 to win and take a 4-0 lead in the series.
