Gunners looking at Manchester United centre back Chris Smalling.
Arsenal have their eyes on a January swoop for Manchester United central defender Chris Smalling, report the Mirror, despite the fact that the England international’s red card in the Manchester derby recently saw him branded as “stupid” by manager Louis van Gaal.

Smalling has never quite established himself as first choice at Old Trafford since his £12m move from Fulham, with the player’s meteoric rise from non-league outfit Maidstone United perhaps catching up with him.
Despite this, it seems that Arsene Wenger has seen enough potential in Smalling to suggest that he is the man to come in and shore up a porous Gunners defence that was again exposed this week as it surrendered a three goal lead against Anderlecht in the Champions League.
