Melbourne defender James Frawley has reportedly chosen reigning premiers Hawthorn as his preferred club when the AFL free agency period begins on Friday.
AFL.com.au report that the versatile defender told the Demons on Wednesday that he would be would be leaving the club to exercise his rights as a free agent.
Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson told reporters on Wednesday that the Hawks were keen on signing the free agent.
“We are interested in James’ services,” Clarkson said.
“There’s a lot of things that have got to occur over the next few days if that was to occur.
“We’re probably a little bit behind the eightball given we’ve had a campaign to concentrate on in terms of trying to win a grand final.
“We’ll see how that materialises over the next week.”
