Star forward Cyril Rioli has trained strongly in Hawthorn’s final hit-out before Saturday’s AFL grand final against Sydney.
Rioli made his comeback in Box Hill’s VFL grand final loss to Footscray on Sunday after three months out with a hamstring injury and is pushing for a recall to the senior side.
Both sides will name their lineups for the big day on Thursday night.
Hawks on-baller Jordan Lewis said Rioli has now given selectors a massive headache leading into the game.
“He looked really good and I suppose if the coaches had any doubt they probably would have a bigger headache now seeing that he (Rioli) trained really well and they’ve got to make that selection,” Lewis said.
Star forward Jarryd Roughead backed Lewis’ claims, saying the livewire player looked ready to go.
“He looked fine to me. The coaches will make the decision this afternoon, but he looked good,” Roughead said.
