A group of goalscorers Wenger can’t be without.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang St Etienne

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

The St Etienne striker appears to be on everyone’s radar from Borussia Dortmund to Liverpool, although the 23-year-old has openly admitted he would like a move to AC Milan.

Whether or not the Italian giants will take up Aubameyang’s plea is another matter and after scoring 35 goals in his last two seasons in Ligue 1, the Gabon international can hardly be ignored easily.

Cristian Benteke Aston Villa

Christian Benteke

Benteke seems to be the first name on anyone’s lips when a striker is needed at a top European club, but then with 19 Premier League goals in his debut season for a struggling Aston Villa side it is hardly a surprise.

The Belgian has proved that he has the credentials to perform at the very highest level and with a better support who knows what the 22-year-old can achieve.

Edison Cavani Napoli

Edison Cavani

This may be a long shot for the Gunners as it seems the price-tag Cavani will command makes the Uruguayan a more realistic target for the wealthy forces of Chelsea and Manchester City.

Yet a proven goalscorer like the 26-year-old is just what is needed at the Emirates, although 78 Serie A strikes in three seasons at Naples means it’s likely to take around £50m to tempt the Uruguay hit-man to England.

Edin Dzeko Manchester City

Edin Dzeko

A seemingly unwanted man at the Etihad Stadium currently means Dzeko may be available for a snip of the £32.6m City paid for the forward just two-and-a-half years ago.

Chelsea and Napoli are also sniffing about the Bosnian however, yet 28 goals in the 27-year-old’s last two seasons in the Premier League shows he would be worth a punt for Wenger.

Gonzalo Higuain Real Madrid

Gonzalo Higuain

A long-term target for Arsenal it now seems the Argentinian is either bound to north London or Juventus, after declaring he will be leaving Real Madrid this summer.

With Higuain unwanted at the Santiago Bernabeu the Gunners may be able to pick him up at a lower price than some of the other candidates they have been scouting.

Stevan Jovetic Fiorentina

Stevan Jovetic

Another ‘will they, won’t they’ situation between the north London outfit and Jovetic as they still remain interested in the Montenegrin but perhaps not his price tag.

Again Juve want to steal the march on Wenger and swoop in for a player already used to the Italian league as he currently plays for Fiorentina, whilst Chelsea also show interest.

Michu Swansea

Michu

The previously unheard of Spaniard is now certainly on everyone’s minds in England having scored 18 Premier League goals during his debut season at Swansea, including two at the Emirates.

Signed by Michael Laudrup for the bargain price of £2.3m last summer from Rayo Vallecano, Michu would probably fetch at least five times that in the current market.

Wayne Rooney Manchester United

Wayne Rooney

Would be one of the biggest shocks of the Premier League era if it went through, but not completely implausible as Rooney has put in a transfer request and United are more likely to sell than ever before.

A supposedly disappointing season for the Englishman has still seen him net 12 league goals and at still only 27 there are plenty of years left in the forward.

David Villa Barcelona

David Villa

Spain’s all-time top goalscorer is looking increasingly more likely to be leaving Barcelona this summer, particularly as the Catalans have already secured Brazilian ‘wonderkid’ Neymar.

At 31 Villa is hardly a signing for the future, but his poaching talents in front of goal are undeniable and being in the twilight years of his career he won’t coast an absolute fortune.

Matej Vydra Watford

Matej Vydra

Would be something of a gamble as has only had one good season in England and that was for Watford in the Championship.

That being said, the competitive nature of the English second teir would stand him in good stead for the step up and at just 21 Vydra fits the bill of talented youngster with promise that Wenger so loves to sign.
