Australian domestic season gets underway with reformed limited overs competition.
Tasmania captain George Bailey has concerns about the new shorter format of the Ryobi Cup in Australia, saying it will make blooding of younger players even harder.
The month-long domestic limited-overs tournament will be played at suburban grounds around Sydney, which Bailey admits is disappointing for the rest of the teams involved.
“I think it’s really challenging to have all the games in a four-week period, particularly later on in the year when the international games are on it’s going to be hard for players to push for selection,” Bailey said.
“And it’s going to be hard for states to actually blood new players. Quite often, as the one-day season progresses, you get a chance to play new players and see what they’re like at the next level.”
