Mourinho claims that love affair ended when Lampard chose to move to a rival club.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has declared the love affair between his club and midfielder Frank Lampard as dead, after the Blues’ all-time record goalscorer scored against them at the Etihad Stadium to clinch a late point for ten-men Manchester City this afteroon, report the Daily Star.
Mourinho described his attitude in football as “pragmatic” after saying that he does not subscribe to the whirlpool of emotion that surrounded Lampard’s late leveler against the club where he spent so long during his career:
“Frank Lampard is a Man City player, I don’t believe in stories of passion and heart, maybe I am too pragmatic in football. When he decided to go to a direct competitor to Chelsea then love stories are over. He did his job as a professional.”
