Collingwood defender Heritier Lumumba is seeking a trade to the Melbourne Demons.
Lumumba has informed the Magpies he wants to join Melbourne, with the two clubs to now negotiate a suitable deal.
Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney told AFL Trade Radio he was pleased Lumumba had chosen the Demons as his preferred club.
“We’ve been talking with him over the last couple of weeks,” Mahoney said.
“We’re really pleased he’s chosen us as his preferred club.
“Obviously there’s a lot of work to be done now, but we can sit down with Collingwood and try and get an appropriate deal.”
Melbourne is believed to have offered Lumumba a three-year deal with a option of a fourth season.
