Few members of the 2007 Patriots’ 16-0 team are still on the team, but the only two that matter still are: Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. And after walking away from the embarrassing events of the summer unscathed, the Patriots look just as dominant if not more than the team that came within two minutes of a completely perfect season.
In a key divisional matchup against the Miami Dolphins, Brady and his All-World TE Rob Gronkowski set the tone early with a brutal TD pass that left several Dolphins defenders unable to figure out what to do.
And from there, the Patriots defense kept Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill under wraps while Brady unraveled the ‘Fins defense in more and more humiliating ways throughout the game.
The Dolphins would manage just one TD against the Patriots defense all night. Tannehill threw two interceptions and was sacked five times after have one of the best games of his career just four days prior.
The Patriots won the game 36-7 and now the question is no longer whether they are a Super Bowl contender, but whether they will try to run the table again and go for the first-ever 19-0 perfect season.
