Nuggets win after firing Shaw…
The Chicago Bulls picked up a valuable win over rivals the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night as they get used to life without Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler.
Chicago are decimated by injuries with back-court duo Rose and Butler ruled out for the majority of the rest of the regular season, and so coach Tom Thibodeau will need other players to step up.
His call was answered by Aaron Brooks (22 points) and Nikola Mirotic (23 points) on Tuesday, while Pau Gasol added 20 points and 10 rebounds as Joakim Noah put up 14 points and 12 rebounds in a real team effort.
Without their two biggest stars, Thibodeau is aware that everyone will need to play a part, and they made a good start against their rivals in the East which moves them to 38-23 for the season.
Meanwhile, Wizards center Nene, who revealed that he hated the Bulls earlier this week, was held to no points and six rebounds while fouling out with over five minutes remaining much to the delight of the Bulls faithful.
Elsewhere, the Cleveland Cavaliers were also winners as LeBron James posted 27 points and five assists as he bounced back from his disappointing finish against the Houston Rockets to led his team to a win.
In the process, he passed Ray Allen to move into 21st place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list as he has now moved to 24,508 points in his career.
Kyrie Irving returned from injury and added 18 points in the win.
The Sacramento Kings were also winners on Tuesday with a comprehensive victory over the New York Knicks at MSG. DeMarcus Cousins put up 22 points and 10 rebounds while Rudy Gay added 25 points as the Knicks suffered their worst loss of the season.
Meanwhile, the Rockets lost as Jeff Teague (25 points and six assists) guided the Atlanta Hawks to a win as they rallied from an 18-point deficit in the absence of James Harden.
