Crawford got in the way of the action with Curry earlier this week.
NBA referee Joey Crawford bemused everyone on Tuesday night in Game 5 between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies.
With less than 30 seconds remaining, Thunder’s Kevin Durant headed to the line with a chance to tie the game at 100-100, but after hitting the first, Crawford decided to take centre stage.
Clearly irritated by something, Crawford scolded the scorer’s table with many believing it to be regarding an issue with the board, but having taken Durant out of his rhythm, the Thunder star missed the second free throw and the Grizzlies went on to win 100-99.
Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks was just as confused as everyone else after describing it as an “awkward situation”, while Memphis point guard Mike Conley revealed that everyone was asking what Joey was doing.
Unfortunately there isn’t an answer as of yet, and while the Thunder can’t solely blame the incident for the loss, it could have been very different had he not intervened…
