In over a decade at Manchester United, Wayne Rooney has proven his greatness time and time again en route to 12 trophies, countless individual awards and the adoration of all of England. But at least one unimpressed Englishman – WWE superstar Wade Barrett – decided to test the veteran striker’s mettle, and paid for it with a yet another signature strike from Rooney.
After berating Rooney and the Man United fans in attendance, Barrett later walked up to Rooney and got into his face, earning arguably the best shot Rooney has delivered all season – right to the left cheek in the form of a gentleman’s slap.
Rooney hasn’t exactly been in top football form this season but he sure knows how to work a crowd it seems.
Maybe he has a future with Vince McMahon and Triple H in the WWE instead of the English coaching ranks after he hangs up the cleats…
Besides, Wayne Rooney vs. John Cena at Wrestlemania 32? That’d be a sight to see.
UPDATE: Following Monday Night Raw, Barrett promised to make a trip to Old Trafford to settle his budding feud with Rooney once and for all.
On second thought, Rooney might need to find himself a tag-team partner.
