Tony Bellew will get back to business on Friday night as he returns to action at the Echo Arena in Liverpool following an eight-month absence from the ring.
The ‘Bomber’ last fought in November last year when he defeated bitter rival Nathan Cleverly in their rematch via a majority decision to end their feud in a highly-anticipated grudge match.
He now makes his comeback against Ivica Bacurin who isn’t expected to be too much of a test for the home fighter, although it remains to be seen whether or not he suffers from any early ring rust.
Having left his movie days behind him, the Merseysider will get back to doing what he does best on Friday on what is a packed bill with the likes of Callum Smith and Rocky Fielding also in action.
Promoter Eddie Hearn has promised Bellew that he will get a title shot in the coming months, with Yoan Pablo Hernandez the intended target later this year if a deal can be reached.
Nevertheless, the 32-year-old is merely delighted to be stepping back into the ring and putting the gloves again after what has been the longest absence from fighting in his career.
With a world title shot in the pipeline, he will be fully aware of the fact that he can’t afford any slip-ups on Friday and will undoubtedly be prepared to secure a comprehensive win.
