Saints ready to make Ryan Bertrand’s South Coast loan move a permanent one.
Southampton will make left back Ryan Bertrand’s loan move to the club from Chelsea a permanent one in 2015, report the Mirror, with Saints manager Ronald Koeman keen for Bertrand to compete with teenager Matt Targett, who has just signed a new five year contract with the club, for the first team left back role.

Bertrand has been exceptional for Southampton this season after he moved to St. Mary’s on loan from current Premier League leaders Chelsea, with him and Nathaniel Clyne forming one of the league’s better full back double acts, so it should come as no surprise that Koeman is keen for Bertrand to join the club on a more permanent basis.
Signed from Gillingham as a teenager, Bertrand has spent most of his time at Chelsea on the sidelines – but his finest moment did come in the victorious Champions League final against Bayern Munich, where Bertrand was excellent.
