With Serge Ibaka back on the court, the Oklahoma City Thunder will hope to level this series in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Spaniard was seemingly out for the remainder of the post-season after suffering a calf injury just over a week ago, but he made a miraculous recovery to give his team a timely boost.
Ibaka was influential on both ends of the court and made a significant difference in breaking up San Antonio’s offensive rhythm, particularly inside the paint where they had dominated in the first two games.
As a result, coach Gregg Popovich will look at making certain adjustments as well as getting more energy and urgency from his players on the defensive end, as that was a particular area he was keen to criticise.
Nevertheless, he still had time to share a joke on Manu Ginobili’s injury status, but the Argentine is expected to feature despite suffering a foot problem.
As for the Thunder, they will look to come out aggressive again with Ibaka providing an emotional boost for the fans too, and the Spurs have conceded that getting to the free throw line was a significant difference between the two teams last time out.
Scott Brooks made key changes in Game 3 with Reggie Jackson starting and scoring 15 points which eased the pressure on both Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook while the likes of Thabo Sefolosha and Nick Collison, who have struggled in the series so far, did not play at all.
In addition, Spurs point guard Tony Parker struggled and placed the responsibility on his shoulders, but it will need an all-round improvement from San Antonio to take a big step towards the NBA Finals.
