Fabian Schar set to leave St. Jakob Park.
Arsenal have been handed a boost in the transfer market ahead of the opening of the January transfer window, report the Express, with FC Basel’s Swiss international defender Fabian Schar confirming his intention to depart the club in the near future.
Schar is rated as one of the finest young defenders in Europe and is believed to be able for around £10m – so could fit the bill when it comes to Arsenal’s quest to secure defensive depth.
He is a key player at St. Jakub Park, but was always likely to move on from the Swiss league in the near future, a fact confirmed by the player himself:
“Basel are open to negotiations, but at this moment I have decided that I want to concentrate on my performances.”
“I went through a difficult period and it wasn’t the right time to discuss my renewal. I don’t want to be worrying about that now.”
“My dream remains to have an experience abroad. I’ve always said that if the opportunity presented itself, I would take it, obviously in agreement with Basel.”
