England starlet set to extend Anfield stay.
Liverpool fans have been given some good as star midfielder Raheem Sterling is believed to be closing in on signing a new deal to extend his contract in the next two weeks, according to the Metro.
The Reds winger will begin negotiations with the Merseyside outfit in the coming fortnight – with a clause in his current contract forcing the two parties to hold fresh discussions once the 19-year-old made his 90th appearance for Liverpool.
The news comes as the teenager closes in on his 100th appearance for the Reds – Saturday’s 2-1 victory over West Brom being his 87th, and he capped it off with providing Jordan Henderson with a second half winner.
Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre is thought to have approached the player’s representatives two weeks ago to start negotiations about extending his stay at Anfield.
However, Sterling has been monitored by Real Madrid recently and there has been a risk of losing him to the Spanish giants.
But Brendan Rodgers believes the player is keen to stay and could wrap the talks up over the next fortnight.
