Gerard Deulofeu to return to Barcelona after brief stint at Everton…
Merseyside club Everton will not be able to keep hold of their loan star Gerard Deulofeu for another season, as his parent club Barcelona has announced that the winger will be in the Catalans’ first team plans next season, reports the Daily Mail.
Deulofeu made 25 Premier League appearances for the Toffees this season, scoring 3 and assisting as many goals, thus helping Everton gain a cutting edge in attack. Everton boss Roberto Martinez, who hoped to keep the Spaniard for another season at Goodison Park, signed the La Masia youth product on loan after beating competition from several clubs last summer.
Barcelona have recently appointed Luis Enrique as their new boss, who now wants Deulofeu to continue his progress at his boyhood club, and has even promoted that exciting talent into the club’s B team.
Deulofeu is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Barcelona, and is expected to become a star player at the Camp Nou one day. His brief but electrifying displays in the Premier League were a treat to watch, and he will be missed quite dearly by the Toffees.
