The Frenchman’s current deal runs until 2016, but Wenger is keen to tie him down for longer and as such has sought to offer him a further two-year extension and a pay rise that will see him collect around £90,000 per week.
Giroud will shortly become the latest in a long line of Arsenal players to sign a new contract, following in the footsteps this year of Aaron Ramsey, Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny, Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky.
However, Giroud will remain on the sidelines until December at the earliest thanks to a broken foot he suffered at the end of August.
