Liverpool may have to brace themselves for another summer of rumours surrounding the future of their best player, Luis Suarez.
Champions League finalists Real Madrid have apparently decided to make the 27-year-old their no.1 transfer target come the end of the season, ahead of Manchester City ace Sergio Aguero, reports the Times.
While Aguero has played very well this term, his constant injury problems concern the Madrid hierarchy, who have been unable to ignore Suarez’s fantastic 31 goal Premier League haul.
Liverpool know though that having already tied Suarez down to a long-term contract around Christmas time, that the Spanish giants will likely have to break the world transfer record for the second consecutive summer to sign Suarez.
Spurs tried last August to hold strong, but Real Madrid eventually completed an £85m move for Gareth Bale on deadline day.
Suarez recently claimed he was content with life at Liverpool, just one year after demanding a move away from Anfield. His form this season has earned him the FWA Player of the Year and the PFA Player of the Year awards, and the Reds will be desperate to keep hold of him at all costs.
They will be aware though that when Real Madrid aggressively court a player, they usually, eventually get their way…
